Paon Leads Day 1b in 2015 PokerStars EPT Grand Final Main Event, Stephensen scores big

The 2015 Main Event of the Poker Tour Grand Final €10,600 Main sponsored by PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino witnessed 337 players taking a shot at the poker crown on day 1b. The field swelled to 556 when it was joined by the 219 entrants from Day 1a and the counting is likely to go up as registrations have been kept open till the start of play on Day 2.

At the conclusion of 8 levels, the field was left with 186 players, and the pack was lead by Romain Paon with 161 ,900 chips which was less than what Jose Carlos Garcia had on the Day 1a with the chip count of 182,800. The biggest achievement of Paon till this date was the runner up finish worth €22,000 at the Main Event of 2012 Barriere Poker Tour Deauville. He is also a regular on the internet and he entered in to the first event representing Team PMU Poker, on the basis of his win of “Challenge ProDream”, an online contest.

Other players who have stacked big included Eric Sfez with 148,600, Samy Salah with 144,500 and also Felix Stephensen with 143,000 chips. The last player was the runner-up of the Poker Main Event in the 2014 World Series. He started on even-keel to end up the day with a fourth place standing. On his success Stephenson commented that he got lucky on some of his hero calls and it was not the outcome of just one big hand.

Not everybody was lucky on the day and the swing and miss cases included Anthony Zinno, the reigning World Poker Tour Player of the Year, Toby Lewis, former EPT champ, E rwann Pecheux, the French Pro, Sorel Mizzi, the Canadian and the German duo of Max Lehmanski and Philipp Gruissem, Mohsin Charania the EPT8 champ and Leo Margets, the PokerStars Pro.
