Jake Cody

Jake Cody is an Englishman from the town of Rochdale in England in the United Kingdom who plays poker professionally and is one of the best young exponents to burst onto the poker scene in recent years. His biggest impact was in the 2010 European scene when he became the youngest player in a long time to win the European Poker Tour that was held in Deauville in January 2010, an event in which he pocketed € 857,000. He further enhanced his reputation as a swashbuckling poker player when he finished in the money places at the World Poker Tour that same year in London when he won a cash prize of $ 273,783.

Cody, who is an avid poker player on the internet, revealed in an interview in Bluff Europe magazine that his online poker career began with a deposit of only $ 10 and such is his prowess in the game that he has never had to make any more deposits ever since then. He was a student of psychology at the University in Rochdale before he found that poker was a much easier way for him to earn a lot more money and he decided to give up his studies to pursue a career in the professional world of poker. Obviously, his parents did not approve of this decision and he decided to leave home and get another accommodation for himself. He himself says that all the success that he has had in poker is due to the hard work he has put in, playing poker online at a stretch for almost 12 hours a day. He also says that he devotes his time studying about how to improve his game, discusses strategies with his friends and fellow professionals, which, according to Jake Cody is essential to the development of a young poker player.

He won the triple crown of poker when he won the World Series of Poker bracelet on the 4th of June in 2011, when he defeated the highly fancied Yevgeniy Timoshenko and won the Heads up No Limit Hold ‘em event in the $ 25,000 category. What was more interesting is that this was only the second time in his career that he played in a bracelet event and this makes his win all the more unique. Jake Cody is surely one of the best poker players and if he plays to his potential, he is destined for greatness.
